Somatic Flow Yoga
Somatic Yoga Deeper Integration
This third immersion in the certification process introduces students to a deeper integration of Somatics and Yoga through the practices of Somatics (Thomas Hanna) and Somatic Yoga (Eleanor Criswell). Building on the previous levels of learning, this Level III class is designed to both deepen the practice of Somatic Yoga as well as test the practitioner’s knowledge and ability to teach this style of Yoga (Somatic Yoga).
Practitioners will expand their knowledge by exploring new movement flows, pandiculations and integrating Somatics and Yoga. Participants will continue to explore and learn adaptations for a gentle approach to enhance the Soma’s natural/organic patterns of movement that create awareness, decrease tension and pain, and enhance natural flexibility.
In the practicum portion of the immersion, each participant will present for 30 – 45 minutes demonstrating appropriate progression of Somatic movements that would allow safe gentle preparation for their chosen Yoga asana/theme. They will show their knowledge base of safe progression followed by review and feedback from all participants and instructors.
Prior to the class, participants will submit their logged 50 hours of Somatic instruction/reading. For certification, each participant will be required to submit a 1 - 2-page essay, describing what they learned by integrating Somatics and Yoga in their teaching and home practice.
This training course will be taught by Andrew Teufel and Violet Reynolds who are both RMT’s, and RDYT 500 graduates. Andrew has been a Yogi since 1986 with a personal practice in Somatics since 1993, and Violet has been a Yogini since 2006 with a personal practice in Somatics since 2004 years. They have an extensive knowledge base of anatomy, physiology and movement.
